Lot 108 Japanese Satsuma Pottery Censer Stand

Item/Description: Satsuma pottery stand, primarily intended as a base for a larger censer (incense burner) or vase. Meiji Period, late 19th century, circa 1885-1900. Circular form vessel, elevated on three modeled guardian lion (shishi) legs. The body features traditional openwork "windows" and is decorated with intricate geometric patterns, including honeycomb and brocade motifs, rendered in a rich palette of polychrome enamels and gold gilt. The upper neck displays stylized floral and radiating fan designs on a pale cream crackle-glazed ground.

Condition: Signs of age, use, and wear include crazing, thinning to gilt on high-contact areas, and minor flea bite chips around paws.
